Mitsubishi Electric Group Companies in India to Support Flood Relief Efforts in Chennai.
Donated 4.2 Million INR for relief and restoration work.
Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. and Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt. Ltd. announced today that they have contributed INR 2,727,383 and INR 1,500,000 respectively towards flood relief efforts in the region.
The 2015 South Indian floods resulted from heavy rainfall during the annual northeast monsoon in November–December 2015 with Tamil Nadu and the city of Chennai particularly hard-hit. More than 400 people were killed and over 1.8 million people were displaced.
Employees and Management of Mitsubishi Electric India were deeply saddened by this natural disaster and solemnly resolved to donate one day’s salary to the relief and restoration work. The company also equally matched the donation from the employees and was able to create the fund to the cause.
The donation of INR 2,727,838 was made through Rotary International Platform, where The Rotary Club of Chennai Presidency would also add funds to this amount and jointly carry out emergency humanitarian aid in the region.

Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt Limited, headquartered in Chennai witnessed the heavy rains and the damage it had brought to many families. Moved by the plight of those families who lost their homes and their belongings, Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt Limited joined the cause of relief and restoration work and decided to provide relief kit to 300 flood affected families in Chennai and Cuddalore districts. Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt Limited plans to donate rehabilitation and relief kit with cost of around INR 5000 per kit which contains Kitchen items, food items, sanitation items and other basic amenities.
The relief and restoration activity amounting to INR 1,500,000 by Mitsubishi Elevator India Pvt. Ltd. is partnered through Rotary Club of Chennai Towers.
